MASSAGE THERAPY QUESTIONS

Corrective massage therapy is a wonderful way to positively impact your health but it can be an intense experience. It affects all the systems in your body and many use it to reduce stress, relax areas of tension, reduce inflammation, and to improve flexibility, strength and range of motion. The best way to get the most value from your sessions and address your concerns is to work with a massage therapist who will discuss your needs and your history to customize each session with care.

If you have questions about your particular needs and how massage therapy can help please email Geneva.

Your First Massage: What to Expect

New massage guests should download and complete the intake form prior to arrival. If you are unable to fill it out ahead of time, please arrive 15 minutes early so that you can complete them in the Austin clinic.

Before your appointment, your therapist will perform a postural and structural assessment especially as they pertain to the areas in which you’d like to see improvement. She'll go over the details of the therapy session and any additional questions or reservations you may have.

During your appointment, you’ll find the massage treatment may be very soothing and at other times the treatment may be rigorous.  If at any point, the massage becomes uncomfortable, please communicate that to your therapist. You'll be fully draped and only the part of the body that is being worked on will be uncovered.

After your appointment, you will feel deeply relaxed. As the day goes on, you may feel a little achy like you finished a great workout; this is a normal response. Be sure to drink plenty of water that day and in the coming days after the massage to ensure the full effect of the treatment continues.

Before you leave, your therapist will discuss future treatment goals and how you can best fit massage therapy into the rest of your healthy habits.
